His ambition, his arrogance, his obsession. He hides them well - behind his pretty face. A soft laugh, a sweet smile is all it takes sometimes and if that doesn’t work, he spouts about his theories. His beauty and his brains are distractions from the more disgusting parts of his personality, yes, but they are also the fuel for his fire.

Once upon a time, he was a delicate and unremarkable flower. His childhood was plagued with sickness so severe there was fear he may not live. His parents expended much of their wealth on transporting him to the best physicians and doctors they could find, traveling from region to region, poking and prodding Solstice with needles for tests. They never settled for more than a year. Solstice escaped this unfortunate but necessary reality through stories, fairy tales, and legends.

One day, as if by some miracle, his treatments finally took. Eleven years of imprisonment and then one day the warden finally let up! He wasn’t truly free, requiring medication frequently, but he was liberated! In that moment and the ones that followed, he revelled in so-called normalcy.

Even in his dreams, the stories captured him. Once again, he was ensnared, but now he had the freedom to pursue these ambitions beyond the walls of his confinement.
